I enjoy steaks, but not stakes and right now I feel as though I have a stake going through my left calf.
I decided to run today, which I'm not too sure was the best idea. Reason number 1: I stayed up way too late chatting with friends and got only 6 hours of sleep. Reason number 2: Work was exceptionally tiring and frustrating today. Reason number 3: my quads were still sore.
The weather was fantastic, which was the driving force for my desire to run (who knows when the weather will suck again). I started slowly, never even starting my watch because frankly I didn't care what time I finished today. After about a mile, my left calf started tightening. Mile 2, it was really tightening. Mile 2.5 I gave up and walked the last half mile. By then, my quads were hurting as I was walking. Now I'm home and plan on going to bed soon and hope that my legs feel better. I'm going to go a loop around Memorial again tomorrow, and try to build up to two loops by Thursday. This weekend my long run will be 10 miles (still in training for those other two halves!). Maybe I'll soak in a tub tonight...
