I haven't run since Thursday, to allow healing time, so I figured I'd run today.
Here we go... 3 miles around Rice University...
Mile 1 - 12:33
Mile 2 - 12:33 (amazing, I've never had two miles exactly the same)
Mile 3 - 12:48
After .65 of the first mile, my lower right calf/upper Achilles tendon started hurting. I stopped, dropped the f-bomb (and quite loudly, I'm sorry to say) and then started up again. I wanted originally to do 6, but after I started getting sore I switched to 3 to see if I could run it out.
Nope. Not really. In fact, I limp-ran the last mile, which is why I was surprised that my time was only 15 seconds slower. Tomorrow I'm going to bow out of speed/track practice and try another 3 miles. Sometimes when my calf/tendon acts up, if I run it out it gets better. But we'll see how it is tomorrow.
Whatever happens, I'm doing it with the Crescent City Classic in mind. I'm driving all the way to run the damn race, I better finish with a smile on my face. I wanted to hold a consistent 12-minute mile, but we'll see what happens.
Almost time for rehearsal. We're going to be off book tonight! I'm kinda nervous.
Cheers!
PS - I'd like to give a "shout out" to Clay, who's stationed in Iraq. :) They're having a half-marathon in Iraq the same day as mine where he's stationed.
